Introduction

Labuan is a compact island territory in the South China Sea, located just off the coast of Sabah in Malaysian Borneo. Despite its small size, the island has a unique mix of history, beaches, and modern business. Labuan is best known as an offshore financial hub and duty free island, but it also has a quieter side with historical landmarks, memorials, and coastal scenery.

The island played an important role during World War II, and several sites still preserve that history today. Visitors can explore the Labuan War Cemetery, the Peace Park, and old wartime structures scattered around the island. Beyond the historical attractions, Labuan offers relaxed beaches, seafood restaurants, and short drives between sights, making it easy to explore in a day or two. Many travelers visit from Kota Kinabalu or Brunei, using Labuan as a convenient stop in northern Borneo.
